wild cravings

while i was at the san diego airport waiting for my flight (3 hours to go…) i was really hoping for one of those book stores that are typically in airports so i could purchase and lose myself in a book. kat – i thought of you then since this is what you do too on trips. :]

to my utter disappointment, the only thing in terminal 2 of the san diego airport was a tiny little stand with probably around 8 books total to choose from. new york best seller #1 – romance. new york best seller #2 – romance. new york best seller #3 – trivial chick book. wait, is that fifty shades of grey? vomit.

one of the books had immediately caught my eye, although i did my due diligence and read all the summaries of the books laid out before me. it had a white cover, a photo of a worn down hiking boot with red laces and the words “wild” at the top. i love simplicity. i probably picked it up several times before deciding that this was the one and bought it for $17.

that was on monday and i have already breezed through the 315 pages. it’s a true story of this woman named cheryl strayed who, when she was around my age, hiked the pacific crest trail – have any of you heard of that? i’m so surprised i haven’t heard one thing about it. and now, i just have a deep craving and desire to hike it – at least a part of it.

here’s a video introduction to the book. if any of you want to borrow it – let me know. :]

is it okay if someone is really nice, but also selfish?

i guess you can say that about a lot of stellar traits. just wondering.

loved this weekend.

teal & cream
twined jars
matching swag
ugly babies (it’s not a joke)
broken glass
20 minute hairdo
white flowers
new friends

that’s all i’ll say for now.

it’s been a quiet week. g started his new job on thursday and is traveling this week and for the rest of the month. i figured it was a good time for me to pick up a new hobby… yoga! i signed up for a membership at sunstone yoga – which is yoga in around 90 or 98 degrees. it sounds terrible, but it feels soooo good after you’re done. i’ve done it for three days straight now and i already feel better, not walking with as much of a slouch and not as much back pain. i’ve also started to go to the gym more for more cardio. now all i have to do is work in a weight regime.

i felt like i had things to write… but the words aren’t here any more. :]

i think my family and i are working to finalize the first wong trip we’ve had in a long time. san diego? here we come!

next week, i’ll be snowboarding down the mountains of lake tahoe – wahoo! it’s been awhile since i’ve taken a vacation… and it couldn’t come at a better time. been working at least 10 hour days (but usually more) these past few weeks. not that i think that’s the worst ever – i obviously know that other people have it “worse” – but i’m tired and i want to whine. and i deserve this vacation!

not to say i haven’t been ‘traveling’. i went to houston 2 weeks ago (oh boy!) and was in st. louis this past tuesday. traveling for work is fun – but not sure if i’ll be doing it again any time soon (boo.). i think the worst part is having to do the expense report afterwards. :[
