opening day

my agency had our “summer outing day” at the state fair for opening day… i had expected hoards of children since apparently dallas kids get days off of school for “state fair days” (wtf?) – but we were pleasantly surprised to not find that many children. it was the least crowded i have ever seen the fair (although, i typically only go for tx/ou… which is quite crowded)

we decided to take a pic in the orange convertible (hook ‘em!) and pretend that our hair was blowing in the wind. marta might be the only one who was successful at it… bliss looks like she didn’t try at all.

PRODUCTIVITY!

Posted: September 18th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: oDays | No Comments »

IT’S TIME TO BE PRODUCTIVE!! I HAVE AWAKENED AT 7:40AM ON A SUNDAY MORNING! NOW I AM GOING TO THE GYM! THEN I WILL GO GROCERY SHOPPING! THEN I WILL CLEAN THE HOUSE! THEN I WILL COOK FOR DINNER CLUB TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!

in other words, i’m running completely on adrenaline and will probably crash at 7pm, right when dinner club begins.

g and i watched black swan last night. i insisted that he stay with me the whole movie and that we needed to leave the lights on. it didn’t start getting creepy until the end. then, i woke up in the middle of the night and i couldn’t think of anything else but the movie and i couldn’t fall asleep! then i started thinking of other horror thrillers i’ve been unfortunate enough to see and it got worse and worse. finally, i got myself to drift by repeating “think of the blackness” over and over again in my head.

this is why i usually only watch disney movies. nothing to fear there.

the last summer day

Posted: September 12th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: oDays | No Comments »

i had a very enjoyable day off today. not overly productive, but productive enough. woke up when g left for work and took the dogs out for a hour stroll. since i’m on my no spending budget, decided to go to the library where i picked up three books. 1 – a little love story, which coincidentally, the main character’s ex gf died on flight 93; 2 – catch-22, a book i have been trying to read for quite some time now and 3 – anne of green gables, one of my all-time favorites.

i slathered myself in sunscreen and packed a little bag with a towel, my iphone, headphones, keys and a little love story and set off for the pool where i sunbathed and read a quarter of the book. came back decided to be a little productive… did the dishes, did my laundry, then went grocery shopping at h-mart. came back, read for another 3 hours or so, finished the book and started prepping veggies (made sauteed red and green cabbage from thomas keller’s ad hoc at home) for dinner. then i vacuumed and started reading anne of green gables.

and now, i’m gross and sweaty from running at the gym and i’m losing terribly in my fantasy team… monday night football did nothing to help me. :[
