One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out a way to get him out. Finally he decided it was probably impossible and the animal was old and the well was dry anyway, so it just wasn’t worth it to try and retrieve the donkey. So the farmer asked his neighbors to come over and help him cover up the well. They all grabbed shovels and began to shovel dirt into the well.

At first, when the donkey realized what was happening he cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement, he quieted down and let out some happy brays. A few shovel loads later, the farmer looked down the well to see what was happening and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was shaking it off and taking a step up. (Shifting)

As the farmer’s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he continued to shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, to everyone’s amazement, the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!

Moral: Life is going to shovel dirt on you. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Every adversity can be turned into a stepping stone. The way to get out of the deepest well is by never giving up but by shaking yourself off and taking a step up.

What happens to you isn’t nearly as important as how you react to it.

i’m looking for your thoughts. how do you interpret 1 timothy 2:11-12 – “a woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” is irving bible church breaking the law written in the bible… a book that is held in highest reverence with nothing false within? or are they onto something refreshing and enlightening?

i’d love to hear jackie’s response, as i’m sure she gets this question quite often. but for now, i’d like to hear yours.

here i am being incredibly awful at it. notice that when i try to make a goal… it goes completely over the target. lame.

oriana and i also tried our hand at molten lava cake! i bought 4 ramekins at walmart and oriana made the nasty concoction in the microwave. it looked like poo. but then it turned out decently well and i had fun plating it on my fun plates. hoorah!

we had the:

- marinated sea bass (again)
- “feed me” roll (again – but it’s different every day!)
- agedashi tofu

DELICIOUS! i LOVED my feed me roll this time. they gave me two types, 4 of each. Safe to say that the feed me roll will most likely be around $14-$15 each time. the first roll was salmon, with a slight mayo/cream taste topped off with a torch-cooked peppered/seasoned salmon on top. the second roll was torch-cooked white fish with a dash of fish eggs and very thinly sliced green onion (? not sure actually) for color – the inside was also fish, but i couldn’t tell what it was… i’m a genius, i know… a true foodie…

so delicious. the tofu was placed in a tempura like sauce and stayed crispy. and the sea bass… still good as ever. LOVE this place.
