oh, december – you really put us all to the test, didn’t you?

there’s something about tragic times that brings out a person’s true self. you really see people’s strengths and weaknesses. i’ve learned what true friends are and what real family love is.

much love to you all (you know who you are).

ready to welcome 2012.

portland has been quite the pleasant surprise. our first night here we just relaxed and ate a delicious chinese thanksgiving meal. on friday, we had a great brunch at tin shed garden cafe and drove to (insert name here) waterfall where we hiked the 1+ mile to the top. beautiful!

decided to grab a snack so we wouldnt starve before our 8:15pm reservation at castagna. after a disappointing turnout at the food trucks, alas, voodoo doughnuts! btw- 13 donuts for 4 people? not a good idea :) and for those that care, RR donuts & gourdoughs > voodoo by a landslide.

dinner came fast enough – first molecular gastronomy experience for the pangs! all in all, amazing.

vineyards had beautiful countryside with mt. hood in the background. dinner was at a brewery, great beer and food!

root beer braised pork belly & new england clams with fennel

g and i enjoyed wedding #3 this past weekend. good ole high school friend, christine married her love, tony, on saturday and we gathered to party with what seemed like the entire vietnamese community of dallas to celebrate. oh boy, do they know how to throw a party. food galore, alch galore, dancing galore… KARAOKE galore… awesome.

even shots of 200 year old remy martin with chinese spoons. is there anything more to say?
